Your Frames

A "frame" in LumiFrame is simply a device running the app: a phone, a tablet on a stand, or a smart TV. There is no separate frame to buy and nothing to pair. Whatever device you install LumiFrame on becomes the frame.

#Adding a frame

A device registers itself, so you do this on the device you want to use as the frame.

1. Install LumiFrame on that device and sign in with the same account you use everywhere else.
2. Open the Frames tab and tap Add Frame.
3. Give it a name, like "Living Room TV" or "Kitchen Tablet", then tap Add Frame to confirm.

That device is now a frame and can play your albums.

Tip: Your account is what links your devices together, so they don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Each one only needs its own internet connection.

Already a frame? A device can only register itself once. If it's already in your Frames list, the app will say so rather than creating a duplicate.

On the free plan LumiFrame runs on one device at a time, and that device is your frame. You can move LumiFrame to a different device whenever you like, which deactivates the previous one, so there's no need to start over if you change which screen you want to use.

Premium and Elite let several devices run at once. That is also what makes the remote controls below useful, since driving one frame from another requires two registered devices.

#No device is "the remote"

Roles are not fixed. Every registered device is a frame in its own right, and any of them can drive what's playing on another. A phone is not permanently the remote and a tablet is not permanently the screen.

#Starting a slideshow

1. Go to Frames and tap the frame you want to use.
2. Tap Start Slideshow.
3. Choose an album.
4. The slideshow begins on your frame.

#Controlling one frame from another

Needs two devices: These controls act on a different frame, so they require Premium or Elite. On the free plan you control the slideshow on the device it's playing on.

Once a slideshow is running, any of your other devices can drive it without you walking up to the screen:

• Pause / Resume: Tap the pause button on the frame's detail screen.
• Skip: Jump to the next or previous memory.
• Change album: Stop the current slideshow and pick a different album.
• Volume: If your frame is playing a live memory with audio, adjust the volume from here.

#Casting to a TV

Premium feature: Casting to TVs requires a Premium or Elite plan. See Casting to a Smart TV for full details.

If you want to display a slideshow on a TV that doesn't have the LumiFrame app, you can cast to it using AirPlay or Chromecast.

1. Go to Frames and tap Cast (or look for the cast icon).
2. LumiFrame will scan for available devices on your network.
3. Select your TV or streaming device.
4. Choose an album and start playing.

For the best casting experience, make sure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.

#Frame settings

To adjust how a specific frame behaves:

1. Go to Frames and tap the frame name.
2. Tap the Settings icon.

From here you can set:

• Display name: Rename the frame.
• Clock / Screensaver mode: What to show when the frame is idle. See Clock & Screensaver.
• Auto-play: Whether the frame starts a slideshow automatically when it opens.
• Orientation: Landscape or portrait, to match how your screen is mounted.

#Managing multiple frames

LumiFrame supports multiple frames, each showing a different album, and you can control them all from a single phone. The number of frames you can connect depends on your plan: Free supports 1 frame, Premium supports up to 10, and Elite supports up to 25.

The Frames screen gives you an at-a-glance view of every connected frame, including whether it's online, offline, playing, or idle.

#Frame permissions

You can control who else can view or control a specific frame. This is useful if you want a person you share with to be able to manage the living-room frame without giving them access to everything.

1. Go to Frames and tap the frame.
2. Tap Settings → Permissions.
3. Tap Add Person and enter their email.
4. Choose their permission level:
   • Viewer: can see the frame's status and what's playing.
   • Controller: can also start, stop, and change slideshows remotely.
5. Tap Save.

To remove someone's access, tap their name in the permissions list and choose Remove.

Frame permissions are separate from album sharing. Giving someone controller access to a frame does not share your albums with them; they can only control playback of albums already on the frame.

#Frame analytics

Premium feature: The analytics dashboard requires a Premium or Elite plan.

Frame Analytics shows you a summary of how your frame is being used over time.

To open it:

1. Go to Frames and tap the frame.
2. Tap the Analytics icon (chart icon, top-right), or go to Settings → Insights.

The dashboard shows:

• Memories uploaded: how many new memories have been added across your albums, with a growth indicator.
• Frame views: how many times memories have been displayed on this frame.
• Engagement: reactions and comments made on memories shown by this frame.
• Watch time: total time the slideshow has been running.

Use the time-range selector at the top to switch between the last 7 days, 30 days, and longer periods. Each metric shows a percentage change compared to the previous period.

The sections on the dashboard are draggable, so you can rearrange them into whichever order makes most sense to you.

#Removing a frame

1. Go to Frames and tap the frame.
2. Tap Settings → Delete Frame and confirm.

Removing a frame disconnects it from your account but doesn't affect your albums or memories.
