Media & Storage
Understand where your photos and videos live, how to connect cloud sources, and keep your storage in good shape.
#Media & Storage
LumiFrame gives you flexibility in where your media is stored. This guide explains your storage options, how to connect outside sources, and how to keep things running smoothly.
#Where your media lives
When you add photos or videos to an album, they're uploaded to LumiFrame's cloud so your frames can always access them, even when your phone isn't nearby.
You can configure how this works in Settings → Media Management.
#Storage modes
- Hybrid (recommended): Media is stored both on your device and in the cloud. Best performance for editing, best reliability for frames.
- Cloud only: Media lives in the cloud only. A good choice if you're low on device storage.
- Device only: Media stays on your device. Your frames must be on the same network as your phone to display it.
For most people, Hybrid is the right choice, as it's the most resilient for everyday use.
#Connecting cloud storage
LumiFrame can import photos and videos directly from third-party cloud services you already use.
Elite feature: Connecting Google Photos, Dropbox, or OneDrive requires an Elite plan. Imports are one-way snapshots; changes made in the source after import are not automatically reflected in LumiFrame.
Supported providers include:
- Google Photos
- Dropbox
- OneDrive
To connect a provider:
- Go to Settings → Media Management → Connected Sources.
- Tap Add Source and choose your provider.
- Sign in and grant access when prompted.
Once connected, that provider will appear as an option whenever you add media to an album.
#Managing connected sources
From Connected Sources you can:
- See which cloud accounts are linked.
- Refresh a connection that's showing as inactive.
- Disconnect a source you no longer want to use.
Disconnecting a source doesn't remove media you've already added to your albums; it just stops you from browsing that source for new additions.
#Uploads and the transfer queue
All uploads run in the background. To see what's happening:
- Go to Settings → Media Management → Transfer Queue.
Here you'll see pending, active, and completed uploads. If anything is stuck, you can retry individual items or clear completed ones.
#Freeing up space on your device
If LumiFrame is using more storage on your phone than you'd like:
- Go to Settings → Media Management.
- Tap Clear Local Cache.
This removes locally cached copies while keeping everything safe in the cloud. Your frames will keep working normally.
#Searching your media library
The media library has a built-in search and filter system so you can find specific albums or photos without scrolling through everything.
To open the search: tap the search icon at the top of the Albums screen.
#Basic search
Type any word or phrase to search across album names. Results update as you type.
#Advanced filters
For more precise results, you can use field-specific filters. Type a field name, a colon, and your value:
| Filter | Example | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| name: | name:birthday | Albums whose name contains "birthday" |
| owner: | owner:sarah | Albums owned by someone named Sarah |
| count: | count:>50 | Albums with more than 50 photos |
| size: | size:<500mb | Albums smaller than 500 MB |
| date: | date:2024 | Albums containing photos from 2024 |
| created: | created:2024-01 | Albums created in January 2024 |
You can combine multiple filters in one search. For example: name:holiday date:2023 finds holiday albums from 2023.
Operators >, >=, <, <=, and = work with numeric fields (count:, size:) and date fields.
#Clearing a search
Tap × in the search bar to clear it and return to the full album list.
#Keeping storage healthy
If media looks out of sync after a network change, an interrupted upload, or a device switch, start in Settings → Media Management. Review the transfer queue, retry any failed uploads, and use Clear Local Cache when you only need to reclaim device storage.
